چکیده

Many of the ideas and controversies regarding the origin, evolution, and significance of avian migration derive from investigations of Old World migrants wintering in the European subtropics and central African Tropics. One of the critically important studies in the development of these ideas was the work by Morel & Bourlière (1962) on migratory bird ecology in Senegal, from which they concluded that migrants as a class were subordinate to Tropical resident species, constituting a floating population (population flottante) of wandering consumers taking advantage of the seasonal surplus existing in their wintering areas. MacArthur (1972) elaborated on these observations, using wintering migrants as examples of ‘fugitive species,’ i.e., ‘species that are able to survive by their relatively quick and temporary occupancy of suitable new habitats as these first become available.’ (MacArthur & Wilson 1967). Several studies in both the African and New 525

Globalization and Structural Changes of the International Labor Force and immigration Effective Factors

Alternative theoretical perspectives have been presented to explain internationally effective factors affecting immigration. For example, the orthodox explanation of migration is based on the concept of wage differentials as an important factor of international immigration. The world system approach declines to interpret theoretically international migration as a phenomenon between independent ...

Investigating the Evolution of Spatial Structure Patterns of Migration in West-Azerbaijan Province

Migration and quality of redistribution of population across country is one of the main factors that planners take into account to control population and guide its movements to economic poles. Scientific recognition of migration phenomenon is important for managing and policy making in the country. These movements change migration pattern, in a way that along with increase in population and the...

Introduction to Schramm-Loewner evolution and its application to critical systems

In this short review we look at recent advances in Schramm-Loewner Evolution (SLE) theory and its application to critical phenomena. The application of SLE goes beyond critical systems to other time dependent, scale invariant phenomena such as turbulence, sand-piles and watersheds. Through the use of SLE, the evolution of conformally invariant paths on the complex plane can be followed; hence a...

A comparison between the Kazerun (Iran) and the North Anatolian (Turkey) fault systems in fault interaction and seismicity migration based on the spatiotemporal analysis of earthquakes

The Kazerun Fault System (KFS) is a right-lateral strike slip fault system in the middle part of the Zagros seismogenic zone in Iran. Historical and instrumental earthquake data catalogs of this fault system show good evidence of fault interactions and seismic migrations. This study provides evidence for the migration of seismicity in the middle part of the Zagros region along the segments of t...
